HELLO AND WELCOME
This is a new space where we/I (mostly Lisa) will be sharing real weddings, muisings, recommendations, inspiration and advice. We hope you enjoy it here and welcome you. Before we start, I wanted to reflect a little bit about where we’ve come from, how far we’ve come and where we’re headed. Also a little bit about what I’ve learned, which is a lot.
When I first started this journey 15 years ago, I never imagined it would lead here. What began as a side-hustle and launched on a whim, has evolved into something so much bigger than I could have imagined. Thinking back to the very early days I cringe a little. Those first years were comprised of a lot of learning, growing and making some really embarrassing mistakes. There were many nights and weekends spent working out our contracts, getting systems in place and trying to figure out which end was up. I didn’t know anyone in the wedding industry but I thought I knew a lot about representing talent. Thinking you know a lot about something but not knowing what you don’t know is a bad combo. It took many years before my intuitions and skill set in the repping world finally merged with a deeper understanding of the wedding world.
WHAT I’VE LEARNED
Relationships are everything. The photographers and filmmakers I work with aren’t just co-workers—they’re collaborators and friends. Some have been with me since year one, others joined along the way, but each brings their unique perspective, personality and talent. While it’s been tempting to chase certain trends or certain artists that I’ve been excited about, I’ve learned over the years it’s better to trust my gut and work with the PEOPLE I’m excited about. That’s what has allowed for longevity and sustained us through the tough times (hello, COVID).
And same goes for our wedding planner friends, whom I have learned to respect and appreciate beyond all measure. When I first started out I was skeptical about them because I thought they would “get in the way” between us and our couples. Ha. Words truly can not describe the stupidity I feel when I think back on that one. Planners are everything.
THE EVOLUTION
I’ve witnessed the wedding industry transform dramatically over these 15 years. From the birth of social media, to the rise and decline in print media, the landscape is almost unrecognizable from where it was when we first started. Couples today are more intentional about their choices, more diverse in their celebrations, and more focused on authentic representation of who they are as individuals.
The photographers and filmmakers I represent have evolved too. They’ve developed their own styles and and consistently pushed themselves creatively and as business owners. Watching their growth has been an absolute joy.
WHERE WE’RE HEADED
The wedding industry will continue to evolve, and we’ll evolve with it. But some things will never change, namely the power of a beautifully captured moment, the importance of trust between artist and client, and the magic that happens when creative vision meets genuine emotion.
To the photographers and filmmakers who have trusted me with their businesses over these 15 years—thank you for letting me be part of your journey. To the couples whose love stories we’ve helped preserve—thank you for choosing our artists to document your most precious moments.
And to everyone who will be part of our story in the years ahead—I can’t wait to see what we create together. Here’s to the next chapter, and to all the beautiful stories yet to be told.
xoxo Lisa
